The Outer Walls

Here is a good idea of what Gallic walls would look light. Basically what you are seeing are up right columns or posts placed vertically. between these posts is what are called membranes with stone facings. Behind the stone facings was dirt. The facing was on both sides of the wall. logs were laid horizontal to the ground which the earth fill covered. The log ends can be seen sticking out from the stone facing.

The walls became enormous parapetes or ramparts. Atop the parapet are either plank or wicker alls. All of this mass of walls sat on top of a cliff.
