Barracks blocks

A close up

Here we see more details of the fort’s buildings. The barracks would be what we call frame houses. The base of the walls would be of stone or brick. Each corner and wall were upright timbers. Between the up rights is what is called a membrane. This was made of wicker which was plastered over and painted with white wash. Each window had shutters. The roof could be either Roman tile or slate.

Not the use of color around the doors and upright timbers.
